    Plan details

    Once a town bustling with many dried-fish shops, Abashiri now has only a few left. Masuda Suisan is a long-established, artisan shop specializing in handmade dried fish made from overnight-dried hokke, mackerel, and herring. In this weekly program, you’ll not only learn how to make dried fish, but also how to select the best dried fish and pick the right type of fish—skills you can use every day. The dried fish you create will be delivered alongside factory-crafted, high-quality dried “Kinki” fish from the Okhotsk region, so you can enjoy the taste of a northern port town’s specialties right at home.
