Gato Festa Harada, renowned as one of Gunma’s signature confections.
At the flagship store in Takasaki, you can watch the process of making rusks!
Today, we highlight the best parts of the free factory tour at Gato Festa Harada.
Famous for its 'Guete de Rois' rusks, Gato Festa Harada offers tours at its head office factory, 'Château du Espoir.'
The tour is free, and individuals can participate without needing a reservation.
On the day I visited, the tour was bustling with families and groups of friends.
After registering and taking the elevator to the tour floor, the first sight that greets you is this.
Here, an abundance of carefully selected wheat flour—the secret behind the rusks—is on display.
There were two types of wheat flour: the one at the front is used for the standard rusks, while the one at the back is reserved for the 'Gunma Edition.'
On the tour, you can watch the complete process up to the packaging of the rusks through the window glass.
Because the factory is so spacious, operations occurring further back— which are hard to see up close—are shown on monitors.
A giant panel is also installed, which helps you learn more about the process of making rusks.
Inside the factory, there was even an exclusive tasting just for visitors.
You can enjoy 'Guete de Rois Brûlée'—the 'Guete de Rois' that, just before entering the oven, is given a perfectly charred surface using a burner.
'Guete de Rois Brûlée' delivers a taste distinct from the rusks. Being a non-commercial item, it’s a must-see highlight!
A drink bar was set up so that you could enjoy a beverage along with your tasting.
With options like coffee, tea, and refreshment water, the service is outstanding—even though the tour is free.
There were tables available, allowing you to enjoy your drink at a leisurely pace.
Visitors on the tour also received souvenirs.
Each visitor received the standard 'Guete de Rois' rusks, an original sticker, and a pamphlet featuring illustrations of the production process.
This service is also very much appreciated.
In this feature, we introduced the factory tour available at the 'Gato Festa Harada Head Office Factory.'
Even though it’s free, with added services like tastings, it’s sure to satisfy both children and adults alike.
There is also a directly managed store on the premises, so be sure to visit that as well.
